The winter in the midwest is dragging on and on so with time on my hands I dug out some old pictures, hope you like them.. When I first joined up, I mentioned that in the 33 years I spent as a local traveling/driving salesman starting in 1983, I used up a few wagons. Most were G-bodies. Easy to come by then. I was putting 25 to 30k miles a year on each. I would sell one after I found the next. The first pic is the only Malibu I owned. They got pricey so I never found another in my price range back then, $800 to $1500. The last pic is my latest, one owner, never driven in winter and mint as can be 83 Cutlass. Last year of rear wheel drive. Front drive was already here in the Olds Cierra which proved problematic when ordering parts for the 83 Cutlass. So all, stay warm, safe and healthy. Heres to spring and Happy Motoring. 20220209_123323_04.jpg 20220209_123229.jpg 20220209_123632.jpg 20220209_123805.jpg 20220209_124125.jpg 20220209_123257.jpg 20200516_110712_resized_1.jpg

Thanks for sharing the pics with us. I gotta say, what a cool fleet of wagons. (y) You're absolutely right, Dave. these cars were common transportation back then and easily obtainable.

And not just wagons and more doors.

In my parts back in the day they severely depreciated compared to late model cars these days. I recall 10 year old models on the side of the road asking $500, sometimes less. It was cheaper to buy another one than do regular maintenance such as brakes and tires so many times. Often between 70-110k miles on the clock.

That pattern held true up from the 90s through the mid 2000s. Compare that to these days, where's a 10 year old car with near 100k selling for 3% of its original list?

Very cool. Wonder if any are still on the roads, especially being in Illinois.

The brown 83’, was it for sale recently? An all brown lower mile cream puff Cutlass wagon was just for sale online in Illinois.

I've always said, "If it's gonna be a four door, it's gotta be a wagon!"
