Electric car to run around town and short distance is where it would be best. Hybrid would be ideal for short and long trips, battery with some form of engine to charge it and run the vehicle on the longer distances, above a certain load needed to move the vehicle.

Absolutely wouldn't surprise me the clowns "in charge" make some kind of emissions requirements for hydrogen, even though there literally would be none.

Crazy part is I've been a fan of Tesla's from the beginning and still think there is a place for them, but don't know how anyone could sell someone into thinking electric for everyone will work when we can't even allow California to function as it is without brown and black outs from electric power consumption. I've said for a long time it should be hydrogen, but now that it is getting backed I am sure there is going to be something to cause a problem so that it can be monopolized by the real decision makers

Let's not forget how much electricity they consume that they don't make themselves. But if you want to nerd out, you can make your own hydrogen from an HHO generator. I've long wanted to toy with that.

Well, let's not forget that it takes energy to make the hydrogen in the first place and that'll most likely come from burning dead dinosaurs. But even if it were made by some "green" method, they still want their cut.

build a huge seawater desalination plant, have it operate by using sunshine to heat water into condensate. electric supply by windpower, pass a few thousand volts thru a chamber of water under pressure, you got your hydrogen and oxygen that can be bottled. Oxy for welding or hospitals, hydrogen for your transportation.
economies of scale? don't know but probably more so than that stupid ethanol from corn. and you can export the corn to starving countries.

Either way companies won't do it for the good of the people or environment, if they can profit from they will do it
