So does electro contact tip stick out. Sometimes you have to grind the gas nozzle down a bit to get the correct stick out. I did it to my MIG welder and it improved my welds.

Also the gloves they sell for MIG welding are so thick they interfere with hand manipulation
Sometimes I use thinner TIG gloves when I MIG which helps to improve my results. If you do need to grind a lot, get the softer MIG wire for autobody work foe easier grinding.
