Finally my 84 hurst is getting decals put on. Does anyone have any details on heights of decals on doors and trunk for the hurst olds sticker . It’s going to a professional to get the stickers put on so I’d like to give him as much info as possible thanks in advance to anyone who can help

Whut, you ain't got no GM door/trunk decals? It's easy peasy, hoss.

If you ain't got them, lemme dig around a little. Got that info around here somewhere when I restriped mine. But I had GM decals which made it a WHOLE lot easier for the doors, although the trunk application you wouldn't want to use the GM guideline as it will kick the inside of the decal higher than it needs to be and look kinda strange. Ask me how I know.

After all the fenders and doors and what not are aligned properly, THEN do the decals. Otherwise if you adjust doors and fenders after the fact, it'll mess up the alignment. I'd start with the quarterpanels and front fender skinny upper and lower wide stripes first. Then, after they're done, THEN the door upper and lower stripes can be applied to allow them to line up properly with the other stripes.

The lower side decals need to be placed on the car over the wheel wells which can happen at any time, as long as it's before the door Hurst/Olds decals are placed. And THEN you can put the door stripes on so you can align them to match the ends of the stripes where they meet at the door.

Of course, if that's already done, then you just need to measure. Like I said, give me a bit of time to drag that up.

Thank you. I got them from phoenix graphics and thought there would be placement instructions otherwise I would have measured them before I took it apart thanks again

Here's a scan I found on my hard drive of a GM H/O decal. I went ahead and marked it up to give nominal dimensions. I believe this should help place them in the correct positions as compared to the door and trunk openings, as well as the proper distance on the door above the lower stripe. On the passenger side, I used the top section of the "S" for reference markings. On the driver door, I used the lower left edge of the "H" as the reference point to the gap. Under normal circumstances, the lower stripe is put on the door, the decal is set on top of the door stripe and aligned with the front door gap by lining up the appropriate front edge of the decal transfer tape. There were notches on the passenger side to be able to see how it would line up with the front edge of the passenger door. The extended section on the RH side of the decal is for the trunklid mounting. The flat edge lined up with the edge of the trunklid and it was placed down to the corner of the trunlid. This made it not follow the lower edge of the trunk lid. To me, in person, it looked a bit strange and I didn't like it. But, hope this helps you. (For those who want to know, the 83 decal is placed EXACTLY the same, albeit different colors. It just had the extra writing of "15th Anniversary" below the "Hurst/Olds". In fact, I have some early 84 decals where you can see they still printed and cut the 15th Anniversary part on the decal but when they weeded it they pulled all that extra lettering off. But the indentations are still there.)

Technically, the Hurst/Olds emblem was placed straight across. It doesn't follow the lines of the bottom edge of the trunklid. But I taped my GM decal in place and it appeared to me it would look kind of funky, so I went with the "incorrect" method of following the bottom edge of the trunklid and to ME it simply looks better to the eye. It's just a slight mod and doesn't move it very much, but to me it made a difference. You can play with yours and see if that's what you want to do. It would run parallel to the license plate opening lines in the trunk if you do it like original. Here is an original below. You can choose which way you like it.

Here's my 84. Nobody has ever said anything about it being a tad out of place. You can see that the way it was applied it doesn't look that bad:

Here's an idea of the driver side of approximately how it should look.

And another shot of my 84 showing approximately where the passenger decal should be. I utilized the GM decal precut transfer tape templates to install them.

Found a bit more close-up example of the passenger side on the web:
