After buying some cheapie replacements from Amazon years ago that seemed to just barely keep the hood up until they failed, I ended up buying some Duralast hood struts from AutoZone if you are not looking for stock replacements these work well.
IMO you have already spent the money to buy your built 350 trans and everything needed to set it up.
I agree with 78Delta88 to just put a SFI bell housing on your 350.

If it were me I would run a new line from the combo valve to the rear flex hose and if you use Cunifer or Nicopp tubing it is easy to bend, flare and route.
Most people swap a non tilt column for a tilt column and consider it an upgrade being able to find the most comfortable position.
What was the problem with your tilt column to begin with?
You could always try something like this for protection instead of a mudflap.
