by the time you get all the upgrades you would be better off installing a gear venders overdrive in that 350. that would give you a 6 speed and a much better transmission (turbo 350). start by getting a price on all the things you need for that 2004r. been there myself.

i bought an in tank unit for my 81 malibu several years ago from this forum for a project. paid 20 bucks plus shipping. it's a feed and return line type. sold the car and never used the sending unit. i'll give you the same deal if interested.
i had a si converted to 100 amps.and when the fans kicked on i would see it drop to about 8 volts at a street light. did a lot of stop and go in town so i converted to a cs 140 amp and it made a world of difference. just use your si v-belt pulley . they interchange. mine was a 81 malibu.
