Delco 1.5 CD Player... better than the tape decks power wise?

So the factory speakers in the 79 were 16 ohms? And in the 88 or 89 Cutlass they were 4 or 8? I know the factory front and rear speakers in my 72 Cutlass Sup were 10ohms, never heard of 16 tho...

Delco 1.5 CD Player... better than the tape decks power wise?

I installed this same unit (out of a 88 or 89 FWD Cutlass) into my 79 H/O in the early 90s. Found some sort of wiring adapter, Dealer only had the later (86-88) dash wood-stlye 1.5 DIN so I used that to look stock (bought a few extras which I sold years later:D) Only issue I remember was that...

86 Cutlass overheated (I think), and now won't start

Only time that has happened to me was in my 79 H/O; thermostat was sticking and it ran hot a few times 'till I changed it. Shortly afterwards it wouldn't restart, just turned over and over and sounded a bit different like it was turning over just a bit faster. The timing chain had sheered the...

    OLDS Which gauge cluster?

Another point of trivia is the idiot light positions are different between the 2 clusters so you would have to move wires around in the harness for those to light up correctly (or swap over the correct silkscreen 'lens'/overlay or whatever its called. More trivia: the 78-79 had a light for Low...

    1979 Cutlass & Hurst Exhaust

Has anyone closely compared the mufflers from the 80's F body and the Turbo Buick G-bodies to the 79-80 R code 350 H/O and 442?

    Dual gate shifter

Dual Gate II is the 4speed/OD version, yes? Technically for the F bodies I think. Always wanted to do one of those in a 79 H/O

    1979 Cutlass & Hurst Exhaust

As a side note, back in '89 when I was ordering up Walker muffler for my 79 H/O, I was looking at the illustrations in the Walker catalog and noticed that the Cutlass w/the 350 diesel also had a 1in, 2out transverse-mount muffler with dual tail pipes. Wonder if the 2 mufflers were very...

    Replacing 307 Water Pump

Quick question Sldwys: what fuel pump are you using? There is a thread about the psi these replacement pumps are putting out and now I'm scared to put my new Delphi pump in:oops:

    alum. rear drums

I remember seeing them on Firebirds/TA/GTAs while working at a Pontiac dealer in '90. Musta been the last year or so before they went to rear discs?

Not Exactly a "Replacement" Mechanical Fuel Pump - Olds 307

I just bought the same Delphi pump MF0006? Trying to get a grasp on what you encountered; are you saying the new pump won't mount flush to the block without the extension you made?

    Olds water pump/impeller

Finally got my Dayco HD pump from Rockauto and thrilled to see it was just as Dayco pictures! (and everyone selling it uses their stock pic) It seems that this is the only orig-style iron pump out there with the heavy duty sealed/covered impeller.

    Olds water pump/impeller

I've always understood that the 'disc' impeller was ideal (and OEM?) vs. the 'vane' or fan-like impellers. Opinions? And when I take my original pump off my 86 442 will I find a disc impellor?

    Probems with power seat controller

I went thru this years ago I think. Might have something to do with the other switch being from a bench (to bucket) or non-recliner to recliner or just a whole diff model car..

    Passing smog

Just checked Summit, they have only 2 Cats for 86 Cutli, all flavors, one is direct fit. Didn't see anything on the first page but when you click on 'applications' and scroll down, they have disclaimers stating neither is for sale for cars registered in CA or NY, etc.. Here's what O'reilly...
