Thanks for the heads up on that. While I do have LED bulbs for the signal lights up front (sequential if you recall), I have eliminated the side marker lights, both front and rear. So not too worried about that. My only real concern though is the LED’s (front and rear) putting enough of an...

Thanks Johnny. If it’s relieving for you to see it go together well, you can just imagine how relieving it was for me! It’s so satisfying when all the bolts align perfectly and go straight in without any trouble. The blue is my favourite as well, it’s Viper Blue Pearl. I had to try and...

Backside is done, pictures as promised. Two coats of white epoxy primer… …followed by 3 coats of base coat (2 for coverage and 1 drop coat for the metallics), then 2 coats of clear. It turned out pretty good, one small run after the second coat of clear, but otherwise...

Thanks guys! I hope you don’t think I’m boasting in any way because that wasn’t the intention. Just sharing the progress over the last few days. But I caught the implied compliment, so thank you!

Naturally I had to bolt it up to verify that everything was still aligned properly, and that I didn’t need to enlarge any of the holes in the body, but mostly I wanted to see how it looked when properly attached, and what the gap between the two would look like. A look from the inside on...

Starting to pick up speed on this project, things are beginning to gel nicely now. Last weekend, I got the entire taillight harness completed, loomed and heat shrinked the ends. This kids, is how you build a wiring harness. This is the other part of it, the plate light and...

Yeah, I can totally see that. When I was using them building natural gas compressors, everything was new so I never really had to deal with that issue. The connectors are designed and made with such close tolerances that it likely wouldn’t take much dirt and crud to make them tough to get apart.

Jeff, they’re similar in that they’re modular so to speak, and despite the name, Weatherpak aren’t as weather tight as the Deutsch in my opinion. I first had exposure to Deutsch connectors 20 years ago when building natural gas compressors for use in the oil patch, and they left a huge...

From fabrication to custom wiring, all in one night. While I had already welded up the large oval hole for the factory wiring grommet on the driver’s side, the passenger’s side was a little smaller so I thought I’d keep it as long as possible and utilize it if I could. Well, after...

Mostly because I wanted to see if I could make fender washers work there. I even picked up some when I got the rest of the hardware, but unfortunately they won’t work unless I cut quite a bit off. They’d have to be more oval than round to fit in behind the flanges. Which isn’t entirely out of...

Hahaha, but we’re not all in the same time zone. I’m MST, mountain standard time, so I’m 2 hours behind the most of the rest of you. Midnight your time = only 10:00 my time. While most of you are sleeping, I’m usually still working in The Skunkworks. But conversely, you’re up 2 hours before...

Back on the fabricated piece, welding up the inside seams for the bump. Getting clean “pretty” welds on sheetmetal is very difficult, so I was pretty pleased with these: I wouldn’t normally run this many tacks all in a row at once without quenching, but there is a lot of strength in this area...

    BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Lots of headway and progress has been made since the last update along with some new parts acquisitions. So let’s delve into it shall we? Working on the fabricated filler panel, the ends that tuck up underneath the taillight bezels currently fit beautifully, nice and tight: To keep them...
