You could also drill and tap it and then use a Helicoil style insert so you can use the original size fastener.

They make aluminum reservoirs for those. Might be a better option. You can essentially put the return anywhere you need.

Sounds about right. My current setup is 18x10.5 with a 295/45 with 5.37in bs 5.5 seems to be the mark for 15x10 275/60

Just did my notch. From what I have seen just about everyone runs 5.5in bs. 5.25 should assuming you went to about the seam.
