I could swear I remember reading somewhere that the wagons had a 2.73 axle ratio standard. Can anyone validate or confirm? Not that it makes that much of a difference. They’re still dogs with the 3.8 2-bbl.
they had the torque but the engine only reved to 3000. and you only had to get to 55mph.You wanna talk real dogs, diesel wagons got 2.29 axles standard (but could go to 2.73 optionally)
Mark,Jack that 229 had a strange power curve. It only breathed between 1000 and 2000 rpm. Add a 2:41 rear and it was like skipping gears on a 10 speed bike. You struggled to get it going and next gear it fell flat on it's face. I only felt safe in high gear going at 2000 rpm.
