Looking to use it on a 2013 Ford Taurus I have no check engine light no dummy lights on of whatsoever but I have inconsistent RPM while cruising from 20 to 50 mph if it was an older car I would say I would check the idle control valve but this does not have one and I've already replaced the throttle body with a brand new Ford which wasn't too bad at $77.What are you planning to use it on? If it's a stock G-body CCC system, it probably won't work. It's for OBDII, not for an OBDI system.
They're always coming up with better and less expensive scanning tools, so to me, it would probably be worth looking into, but check out all the features before dropping coin to see if it will do what you want it to do.
I have an older tool that does OBDII and OBDI, and it works fine for what I need it to do.
Yep I've seen that before on Fords. You can test manually by ever so lightly stepping on the brake pedal, just enough to turn the brake lights on. That will prevent converter lockup from happening. If that's the issue. I recommend changing the trans fluid and adding this. I've never been a believer in snake oils, but this has worked every time for torque converter shudder for me. They make different kinds for different fluids. Make sure you use the correct versionFor quite of few yrs now we’ve been seeing a lot of torque converter lockup issues. Usually appears to the customer it’s engine missfires due to trans converter shuttering or inconsistent rpm. We’ll test drive and watch the scanner looking at missfires. Also usually have the ability to shut off or lock the torque converter to see if the issue changes.
The Roadmaster had a torque converter shudder when I bought it. A fresh filter and fluid refill made it worse. My buddy used to run a transmission parts house across town. He fixed me up with a similar LubeGuard product. I'm not a believer in chemical cures but that stuff worked. I've driven the car from Houston to Gulf Shores Alabama and from Houston to Brownsville. It's great.Yep I've seen that before on Fords. You can test manually by ever so lightly stepping on the brake pedal, just enough to turn the brake lights on.
