CUTLASS Picked up another one

Started doing a little "repair" cut out the main hole on the passenger side and cleaned up the metal around it. Problem is there is literally nothing in the area to weld to thats any good. So even with my welder on the lowest setting I couldn't get it to not blow through. So tomorrow I'll solve that little issue. But for now the patch is stuck on.

So after I found a lot of the metal is very thin I decided to professionally correct it.20250211_190317.jpg
See it says professional. In two languages no less, that's how you know it'll work.

With that being said the results are actually pretty good

So I actually think that sealed it up pretty well and filled where the metal was too thin to weld without major repair.

So I moved on to the massive tree dent on the driver side roof. What I ended i ended up doing was cutting out some of the interior structure to gain access. Once I'm done I'll weld the structure back in. Its pretty smashed so this was the quickest and best way I could get to it.

Progress on the roof. I moved on to the passenger side and have the major dent mostly removed.

Then I moved on to cleaning up the rust and removing the really rotted spots.

After that was complete I started welding in the patch panels. It's turning out pretty good so far. Still having to be really careful since the metal is so thin in a lot of places.

Okay so last night i continued the work on the roof on the drivers side. I got the roof dollied in a little bit better where the big dent had made the roof lose some of its shape. Then i continued with the patch work. I made a new corner for the window channel by bending a small piece around my finger.

I then tacked that piece in, i left it oversize so that i could grind it down as needed so that i could lay the last patch from the roof skin down as flat as possible

Then once i had all that done i finished trimming the last patch and shaped it to the corner, then i filled the gaps and thin material with JB Weld to bond everything together. Once this dries i will use the newly shaped corner as a foundation to build up on so that the window fits nicely. All in all this side should require very little filler when its all said and done and i have sanded down on the JB weld. There are places where i intentionally left it fairly thick because i will need the extra material to shape.
