Hi all. I have an 83 el Camino that is LS swapped. Having some issues with heat soak on hot days at the drag strip. Has anyone here installed louvres on their hood? Curious to get some recommendations. Lots of them out there from cheap to super expensive.

i know Tony1968 was planning on running a set with his cutlass,i found the page in his build thread,take a look
Tail light trim cleaned and scotch pad with 3M paste. First time using it and it smells and feels like a citrus hand cleaner.
Then a coat of epoxy and three of high build on hood.
Aside from buying tape (because it's astounding how much you use) I haven't spent much of anything in a long time for this build. I stock piled all essentials years ago. So I was kind of excited when I got these hood vents today.

I made mine out of aluminum for my Monte's old hood and put studs in so you can't see the fasteners.
I also designed them to match both of the body lines.
If I ever get some free time I will probably make some similar to the Trackspec louvers but with no rivet holes and to fit the lines of my new hood.
After this mock up I carefully cut the heads of the bolts off and then sanded the whole thing down.

Research indicates that the cheap plastic ones don't last a single summer, Fiber Flex is good material if thick enough but many aren't, and the best place to extract air is roughly above the exhaust manifolds due to high/low pressure areas. I bought steel louvres with very specific bends- I'm picky about stupid things like that. Believe it or not, these came all the way from Bulgaria.
