Now that Ive been trying to get the 81 coupe finally finished I can see the original flat hood wont clear the air filter/carb/manifold setup. Not even close.
Ive always thought the hood that I bought for the wagon was made by AMD. Last night I dug up the receipt and it turns out it was made by Dynacorn. Needless to say I was shocked. So, today I tried to contact the place here on Long Island that sold me the hood in 2016 only to find out theyre no longer in business. UGH.
I looked at the Goomark hoods online and theyre out of stock until 8/25. Called Dynacorn and they "might" have hoods at their PA warehouse by the end of this month or beginning of May. Summit can ship AMD hoods tomorrow but the shipping costs are crazy.
Tomorrow Im calling a few shops to see who has accounts with which manufacturers.
Who out there had a steel cowl hood ? What brand ? If you had them shipped were they perfect when you got it ? Back when I was buying one for the wagon Goodmark was my first choice but they were out of stock due to a problem with the stamp/die in the factory. The customer service guy said they all come from the same place just boxed differently for the different companies. If I can find a local dealer that sells Dynacorn I'll probably try them first but thats tomorrows task.

I bought mine from directly from good mark, R&L carriers damaged it slightly but I had an event to attend so it went on with the dent in the middle. Been like that for 4 years… it’s still in the black primer too.

I’ve got a Goodmark one on my MC.
Imo, for the money I’d go with fiberglass if I were to do it over again (Which I will be). Heavier than stock, voids in the layers of metal, and the upper stamping was curled up at the edges by about a 1/32 of an inch. Might not seem like much, but took more filler and time than expected to fix.

I’d also like to admit I wasn’t expecting it to be perfect, but not being a seasoned body man I was blindsided by what I had to fix and the amount of filler primer I went through with what I encountered.

Alerch sometimes those dents pop out you have to cut the sealent between the outside skin and the inner supports putty knives work good when it;s resealed make sure you get non shrinking sealer also i have seen alot of new hoods rust because it wasn;t painted
