What did you do to your non g-body project today [2025 edition]

Spent some time figuring out the rental Mercedes GLA250 so the wife can drive it for the next few day while her Santa Fe gets fixed from the gray chonky. Why do they have to add so much stuff to ust to operate the basic needed functions? It keeps telling me that I'm tired & need to take a break after just getting out of the driveway.

Every new car is a nagging wife.

Swapped out the factory steering wheel for an old mahogany Grant, the rear view mirror is now a chrome one with skulls, fought for an hr to remove door sill covers without breaking them- broke one little spot (fixable), removed a cheap Chinese radio, vacuumed everything and found lunch $$, removed a ton of seam sealer, removed fender badges, ground off some rivets & removed exhaust brackets, put on some exhaust pipe, replacement battery tray & valve covers are soaking in oxalic acid, toilet bowl cleaner did wonders for the headers but they need another bath before polishing.

Hey square body brethren, I'd like an opinion on which way to go with the rear suspension: flip kit and Bilsteins or shackles, hangers, air shocks, & factory springs w/ one leaf removed? The shackles/hangers/springs are on my '86 frame but this '81 has a broken leaf...

Did the 4 high mod to fiancé's father's 97 c1500.

Swapped rubber from the rallies to some Cragars- massive improvement.

Fair enough. Your point is valid, heard, and addressed- I bought the wheels with cracked Wranglers for $250:

It was dark when I got home so I didn't take a picture of them mounted. I went outside and took this just for you, but it's hard to see anything:

Still looking for opinions on the suspension drop but not holding my breath.

After performing my due diligence and adhering to the scientific method I've upgraded from Barkeeper's Friend to this:

Here's a pic of my "vat of acid" when the valve covers were still in it with the battery tray. They had all kinds of stuff on them and minimal rust in some scratches:

The valve covers now have a small amount of oxalate that needs buffed off but are much, much cleaner than before:

My $50 headers were completely dark when I got 'em and still need passivated with citric acid & polished:

Battery tray as I received it:

And right now, after about 24 hours in the same solution that hasn't been changed:

Here's the interior I received:

And here's some Suburban panels I'll be installing. They blend into the couch just a wee bit:

The sill covers need cleaned again before paint, and I may paint the headlight bezels:

Those GMT400s had truly shameful headlights, especially when old and foggy. Luckily, new replacements are cheap.
His are very old and faded. He hit a deer on the way home, so new lights will be in his future.
