Driveshaft measurement

I've had two drive shafts shortened in the last couple years at a semi truck shop. I had them both built to a running length measured with the suspension loaded by 1) bottoming out the trans yoke, 2) measuring from yoke face (the split line) to yoke face 3) subtract 1". Problem free. One was for the 4l60e, the other drive shaft shortened when I added the 8.5" rear.

That's it.
I have 3/4”. I remember having to kind of manipulate the diff yoke to get the ujoint seated (tight fit) which is why I was questioning the length. However I do have 3 seasons of driving on it w/o issue.

then why after driving 3 years are you asking, leave it alone!
Agreed but this is how I learn. Prior to OP I thought if it fits then its fine. And to some degree that is true because if it were any tighter it would be a struggle. Doing some reading on a separate project is what brought up the consideration.
