Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

A flex fuel Z-vin Tahoe had hit a yard that was 2 hours from me and I wanted to go check it out. I needed flex fuel capabilities for future fun. I made the trip, and sure enough, its L59 wasnt picked over so it was a go. After fighting with it for a few hours (never pulled an LS engine before)...

Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

I pulled the 14s off and threw on the 17" wheels from the Monte and couldnt be happier. Im sure the 3.8 and 200 trans didnt care for the 275s in the back but whatever lol... I was just happy to get it running and drove it like that for about 5 months. Not being able to merge quickly onto the...

Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

I got a pressure washer, and basically a cheap plastic suit and went to work on the engine bay. I got a lot of the acid out of the bay, and neutralized it, then pressure washed it again. I got a lot of it cleaned, but knew that I would never get it all out so I just did the best I could lol. I...

Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

Actually really good.. little bit of surface rust, but otherwise fine. Best part, its my birth year (85) so that's an added bonus. Floors need some love, but they're not awful.

Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

So getting this thing home, I decided immediately what I wanted to do. I saw the 8F8 thread with Matt Happel going 8s for $8K, and I decided that I wanted to try to build a 10 second machine for as cheap as possible. First, I wanted to try to do some free things-- always a fan of free: the red...

Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

Seats didnt match, carpet was faded, didnt like the center console, but the body looked pretty solid. The rest of the stuff isnt really important as they wont last long in the car anyways. The body panels lined up pretty well.. someone had planned to paint this and just didnt get to it. I went...

Lets Try this again: Cutlass Edition

Hello Ladies and Gents, I really wanted to start this thread to document my progress, no matter how fast or slow I end up going with this thing. Previously, I started a thread for my 78 and 79 Monte Carlo project cars that I planned to make into one car...

    “COFFEE TALK” 83 cutlass supreme

"So, I took the car home, and did a walk around... then tore the body off the frame" Lmaoooo I love it. Looking good so far, love seeing a car saved from rotting away to dust in someone's back yard.

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2019]

Bought some harbor freight gauges (oil psi and coolant temp) that I’m going to hide away in the glove box. Now I just need to figure where to route it through the firewall. I’m going to see if the ECU grommet has anymore room I can squeeze a few more wires, copper line and coolant gauge hose...

What did you buy for your G body today? [2019]

New Battery terminals.. For some reason, my car wouldn't start. Got it jumped off and made it home to find out my battery is at 11.xx. Just got a new parts store alternator and belt it tight (yeah, I know..). Previous owner put marine terminals on it after doing the Big 3 upgrade, so I'll...

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2019]

Got my new Cutlass running... pickup coil was bad on the old distributor, throwing hard code 12. Still has SES. Has a charging light on and only charges at 12.4 volts so I’m going to do the “big 3” tomorrow. Battery to ground is already something crazy like 0 gauge. Going to upgrade alternator...

    Frame stamp.. what is this??

Anyone have an idea what this is? Found it when changing tires last week on my 85 Cutlass. I’ve looked at a lot of Gbody frames but never seen anything like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

78 Monte: spark and fuel but not running

I really don’t think so but maybe. I’ve tried to keep it out of moisture as much as I can. I have another distributor I can try, if the other stuff doesn’t work.

78 Monte: spark and fuel but not running

Thank you everyone.. I appreciate the responses because this has been driving me nuts since last weekend. I agree, I felt it was likely a timing issue but I’m going to check the plugs too— though it’s going to suck pulling them with the long tubes on it... I grabbed a timing light tonight...

78 Monte: spark and fuel but not running

Even if I did it in pretty rapid succession? I had to do it quite a few times lol. But I’ll defintely try that

78 Monte: spark and fuel but not running

Good afternoon, I have a 78 Monte with a plain Jane 350/350 setup. Recently I had been bumping my car around to find TDC, and realized that the fusible links didn’t like that much.... before I realized it was the fusible links that had burned out, I replaced the ignition switch. Outside of...

Riley’s 78 Monte Carlo — "Rolling the Dice"

Then, comes the dilemma... I wanted the 79 tails but now I have to figure out how to make that happen on the 78. Should be a direct swap right? Well, not exactly. For some reason, GM made small changes that are going to make this not such a direct swap and will require a few modifications. But...
