Frame stamp.. what is this??

Anyone have an idea what this is? Found it when changing tires last week on my 85 Cutlass. I’ve looked at a lot of Gbody frames but never seen anything like this.

it probably has something to do about the plant which manufactured the frame,...one of the old GM employees you find hanging around this forum will probably have an answer for you. If you want a quick answer offer them free popcorn....:popcorn:

I have one, HX I think, on my wagon... put it back on after I narrowed the frame.

Quick identifier for the assembly line, known as a broadcast code. Each component had a 2 or 3 digit identifier so as the chassis passed down the line, the assemblers looked at the broadcast copy (build sheet) in the box for their station and grabbed whatever part was spec'd for that car.

That's what all those codes on a build sheet are, a means to quickly identify the correct component for that specific vehicle
