Lol deffinatly will be getting a video AFTER I change out my ring and pinon. I've got 2.41's now I can go 60 in 1st and not even hit 4 grand. LOL and the red line for 287 is gonna be around 8,500... I changed heads again I got a set of 416's off of a 305. These are another dimond in the rough...
Shoot American made is all I'll ever own. But thanks guys! Man seeing people around my age group being in to G-Bodies and automobiles in general is sweet! I think it's pretty trick doing the 283! You know people don't give it the credit it deserves. True there is no replacement for displacement...
Here's an easier way to help choose your converter. Your biggest factor for choosing a converter is your cam. Say the power band of your cam is 2,000 to 6,000. You would want a 2,000 to 2,500 stall then.
Also a converter that has a higher stall doesn't nessarily not move to you reach stall. I...
FYI for small block or big block chevy swaps. If you want to use your power steering you need to swap brackets. Well instead of spending all that time pulling the pulley off and such go to the junk yard and find any year 80's model chevy truck and steal the whole pump and bracket assembly off of...
Well I got a little bit of a suprise today! I pulled the oil pan off and saw my 283 had an all forged bottom end and ARP rod bolts. Score! :D Just keeps getting better and better!
Throw a set of pro-filer 185's on it! It's stalled on the porting till monday when I'm at work again but this weekend I'm going to go through the short block.
That's the best way to learn! Jump right in! It's pretty easy
Alright so the ball really got rolling today. While I was at work today I started working on my heads. I have a set of 882's right now that came on the 283 which kinda suck in stock form. Supposedly they flow 200 on the intake. Well tomorrow I'm going to throw them on the flow bench and get my...
I did not know that about the differance in fluid volume. Thanks for that! Yeah I would rather use water because that's what we use to cc heads with at work but some of the pros for some reason don't like it because of the added surface tension so they reccomended mineral spirits and washer...
Alright so I went out last night and measured my piston dome CC. The reason I had done this was because it was an unknown factor (unlike normal flat tops are usually -4 to -6cc due to valve relieves) as to how big the dome was in CC's which you need to know for figuring compression. As you can...
Lol 86Monte I've got the short block that I fudged up, The block I orininally had in the car and spun the bearing on and my 283. But thanks for the compliments! I really appreciate it and it gets my butt in gear!
Wild Card that's awesome good luck man! BTW if at some point you do go Chevy...
Lol yeah I hope I get one too. I LOVE it there! Recently I got to go out to IMIS with them and met Tommy Johnson Jr. and Larry Morgan! :D
My build is going a different route for now. A guy traded me a complete recently rebuilt 283 for my World Products heads. I'm buying a set of 416 heads...

I've ran Harland Sharps in my drag applications. Great rocker. Whatever rocker you get make sure to do some prelimary checks that should always be done with a roller rocker to help with longevity. Make sure to check that you have the correct pushrod length. If your not familur with how to do...
I reccomend the cam and carb change if you want to use the heads as I've mentioned before but if you can go with a smaller head then do it. Alot of people make mistakes when choosing heads. The go off of what they flow which is not what you need to go off of. Port veloctity is more important. If...
Well if your dead set on that cam then try like I said leaving from near idle to shock the drive train. Deffinatly go with the .600 roller if you can afford it. Is this a strip only car or even a mostly strip barely street? If so you may be happier going the solid roller route. You will not be...
