    NV3500 5-speed swap

I was just directed to this thread and I'm flattered! :giggle: (thread resurrection alert) Glad you like the pedal setup Wageslave! I have a set of original IROC's if you are near MD that I wouldn't mind turning into parts money. You'll need spacers for the rear though.

Ah yes you are right. I didnt think about the lower bushing.

    High Ratio Steering Box

The SS box in my SS is still too slow for my liking. I autocross and it's a handfull. I just bought a Focus ST and it's 1.8 turns lock to lock (In other words, when you turn the wheel all the way to one direction, it doesn't even come back to 12:00). I have heard that the Lee 670 box is good...

G Body Frame Modifications- looking for more info

For boxing the frame, I would try to make the hole for the body mount hardware as small as possible to maintain stiffness. A hole cutter to the bottom for a socket should work just fine, no need for that large hole for a wrench. All of the added tubing probably doesn't help as much as it...

SSM - ZF 6 Speed, Mini-tubbed, Big Plans

A touch screen would be cool, but I don't really have plans for one, yet at least. I'm not really 100% sure what will go in that opening to be honest, but I'll need to control heating/AC (maybe vintage air), and a radio of some sort, just like stock. That's a shame that they wouldn't let you...

    Ford 9" Bolt in Rear

I've heard of a lot of people having axle seal issues with the QP9, have they resolved this?

SSM - ZF 6 Speed, Mini-tubbed, Big Plans

Oh, ok, I have family out that way. I used to work at Rockville Speed with Mike for like 4 years or so. Did you have a silver fox body mustang back then? This was like '04-'08 Cool, thanks! I haven't updated there in a little while. I have been on the mend for the last 10 weeks and that...

SSM - ZF 6 Speed, Mini-tubbed, Big Plans

Thanks for the responses! I'm flattered :) It was a b*tch the first time but the second side went smoother. I had a lot of rust to contend with, so that complicated things. I figured if I had to fix all of that rust anyway, I might as well go a bit further and just tub it. My advice to...

Tubbed wheels on 1978 Malibu sedan?

9.5" has always been the limit for the Monte, and that's with a 275 tire. Anything more than that and it sticks out. Not sure if the 'bu has more room. I had to roll the fender lips to get that to work.

SSM - ZF 6 Speed, Mini-tubbed, Big Plans

1985 Monte SS ~300 crank hp 350cid ZF6 speed from a '96 Vette (also have a "black tag" '93 unit that is stronger and will get built) 8.5" GN rear w/ 4.10's, Posi, Moser axles ~3-4" drop, car looks good but doesn't handle like it should 17" wheels, 8" wide up front and 9.5 in the rear. Will get...

1984 Monte Carlo SS nasty street sleeper

I love this car, I've seen it on MCSS.com and I think that it's built very well.

Bad Idea?? (AutoX + Helmet Questions)

So where are the pictures?? ;) How was the body roll? Mine rolls like a **** and I need stiffer springs all around. A friend of mine has Afco adjustable spring perches which let him run really cheap springs and dial in spring rate independently from ride height. These cars are front-heavy...

preparing things for a later pro-touring build

If you want the car to handle, stay away from boxed trailing arms. You want that torsoinal flex that the stock arms give. Stiffening them torsionally causes the suspension to bind, which gives the snap oversteer that 307 Regal mentioned. The johnny joints or roto joints available in many...

frame off resto and minor v6 upgrade - QUESTIONS

The '85+ monte ss got the 3.73's, '83-'84 had 3.42's due to the lack of an OD trans (TH350). Without OD, I'd go 3.42 or 3.23's. If you have to change series of the carrier, might as well go posi. 200hp should have no problem spinning the tires.

    Manual swap, with a twist!

Are you using an LT1 or LS1 T56? The LT1 uses an external slave with a clutch fork which mounts in the bellhousing. The LS1 uses the HTOB.
