How do i get the back seat out of my 86 Monte?

The torx head on these bolts actually have a special socket, and are almost required if the bolts were as stubborn as mine were. The points are rounded, where as a torx has more of a point.

    Project updates

No, that isn't my neighborhood, although i would love to do that in a couple of my neighbors driveways. This was taken behind the shop I work at, and both houses behind me are car guys to, thats the only reason I did it there. I would never recommend doing this in any neighborhood though

    26 or 28 spline axles?

What rear ends came with 26 and 28 spline axles? I have a 79 malibu with an open carrier and was wondering what axles it had. Thanks!

    Engine Painting...

I think the heads, block, oil pan, and bell housing was 250 bucks. If you do powder coat, you have to be twice as careful than if you were painting it when you mask every thing off. If you get powder coat where you dont want it, good luck getting it off.

    Engine Painting...

If your looking for durability and great looks, powder coating is the way to go. This motor was done 4 years ago, and you cant hardly scratch or chip the paint on it.

    Project updates

No, it wont get driven in the winter, my dad used to own a 4 door malibu, and even with 300 pounds of steel in the trunk, it was still a scary ride. It will get driven until it's too cold or there's snow on the ground.

    Project updates

The Malibu finally runs, and I barely got these taken before the sun went down. I will drive it for the rest of the year, and it's getting a nine inch in the spring, just in time for the track.

    Project updates

78mali350, I briefly talked to you in west point, and i really like the car. To answer the second question, the paint is krylon semi flat (about 13 cans worth!) It finally runs, and i will have to post some new pictures up soon.

    Rear end width

I am looking to swap a nine inch into my 79 malibu with a 7.5 in it. I tried to measure axle width, flange to flange, and got 58 inches. I think this is right, does anyone else know for sure? Thanks

    Project updates

I haven't been on for a while, so i figured i better post some pictures. This is my 79 Malibu that I've put some time into this year. Suspension and steering wise, the front end is brand new. The motor is finally assembled, the transmission is apart, and my radiator set up is in. Oh, and it's...

    sbc block question

pistons for a 327 may be the same bore, but they will have different pin locations. A good reliable short block would be your 4 bolt main 350 with a balanced eagle rotating assembly. For under a grand you can have a kit with coated pistons and they are rated to 500 horse, and if you have a...

    Hot Rod Hangout!

Yes he also owns a TVR that you speak of. It is a 1966 Griffith with a 289 and he claims it only weighs 1400 pounds??????? I am unsure if the weight is true, but after the talking he has done, I can't wait to hand him his rich a** on the streets this summer. He also owns vintage Ferrari's...

    Hot Rod Hangout!

You were correct about it being an MGB, but the only stock MG left in it is the roof and the glass. This car is owned by my wealthy boss who is into European cars with American muscle. Although this is not my personal cup of tea, this one picture doesn't do this car justice. Here is a link to a...
