subbed.. haha was wondering if anyone else on gods green earth was going to use a wideband to tune instead of the older methods. i happen to have a wideband from ecu tuning some previous cars so i figured i may as well use it on my SS.
great thread to stumble on here :friday:
Anyone got close up pics of these on a SS? I got a pair but they have a little gap in some corners and don't sit flush. Can't find good close up pics on Google to see if that's how they for or if I'm missing something.. Haven't fitted them yet, might trim them to sit more flush in the light...
I don't want to do any more than I have to for the sake of fitting a posi. So I need to look for a 7.5 inch posi diff for a straight drop in?
I'm knowledgeable about cars and worked on all my own but older American stuff seems very different to what I'm used to dealing with (older and newer...
Ok first I want to confirm what came stock in the 85 Monte Carlo SS. Was it a 3.73? Secondly my tach doesn't read correctly so what sort of rpm would I be spinning in 4th (200-4R) at 60mph and at 80mph?
Wanting to know engine speeds as I might want a nicer ratio for get up and go but I don't...
Have had this for about a year. Very fun car, quick and an insane amount of grip.
Mods so far are:
3 inch catback
Short ram intake
Grimmspeed 3 port electronic boost control solenoid
ECU tuning by me
Cosmetics wise I have added the bbs RS reps with 225 width kumho ecsta xt rubber. Also added...
Just thinking.. Giggle gas might be the ticket. I could build the 305 a little with an intake and cam, maybe pick up a spare pair of HO heads and get them worked and fit larger valves (replace the smaller of the stock ones) which I think I read was the exhaust valves which should give a little...
Washed and half properly cleaned it.. Paints good so I skipped mildly abrasive polish and the da polisher. Went straight to mother's carnauba wax. Did tyres with meguiars (the purple stuff) and done the wheels with poorboys wheel sealer. Wheels could use polishing but I'll do that with the...
Tbh any exhaust on a Honda sounds farty. Just the way they sound.. Some like it and others don't. Never been a fan myself but I have had 2 civics before. One was an 87 civic ballade (j* 4 door saloon) which was slow as molasses with a stock 1.5 sohc and auto box. The other civic was a 90 I...
Wow.. I didn't make all 12 pages but I did read the first 4 and this last one.
No wonder there's such a big divide between imports and domestics in the US. There are stock fast cars and stock slow cars built fast on both sides. There's also knowledgeable folks and idiots on both sides of the...
Re: 85 SS wipers stay on after using high or low speed on sw
Cool. Was thinking about cleaning it up to see if that helped at all. Might give that a try.
Here's my Monte. Got it earlier in the week. Not 100% on what all it has done but I will edit things in as I find them. Has been fully re painted in Toyota black metallic with a black cherry metallic mixed in with the clear coat.
Stock 305 HO with..
Holley 650cfm 4 barrel carb
GM "055" 4...
Dunno about rear end gearing.. The tach is way high and I don't know how high it revs at 60 or 70mph. I want to keep half decent fuel consumption also because fuel prices here are nuts compared to what u got a pay. We pay about £1.30 a liter. Considering £1.30 is maybe like $2.10 and there's how...
Definitely not putting 3k into it. Thinking a cam and possibly a different intake manifold plus what's already on it will work well.
Beyond that either boost, nitrous or another engine. As is the car does about 22mpg. Doesn't seem much worse than my wrx on fuel.
Anyone know a good ballpark...
The guy I bought the Monte off swears the 305 is a majorly overlooked engine. He's an ase certified master who lives here in Ireland (hence doc's don't grow on trees here) and he's built plenty of drag engines for people with US imports here. The Monte was one of his cars. He was definitely...
Basically I just want enough for the car to be able do do easy burnouts and all that fun stuff.. The wrx is great but I miss good old fashioned rwd. I have an 89 bmw 325i which was never driving straight lol the Bmw will probably be sold so I'd like enough power to have some fun with the Monte...
Nah it's not about beating things.. If I want to do that I'd bring out my 06 wrx which is roughly 270bhp/320lbft which I can patch launch control and flat foot shift on in about 5 mins with my laptop lol it runs high 13's on stock turbo and stock cats. Only have a handful of mods and remapping...
