Had to cold bend 1-2 rod . Per, Hurst that's a common issue . Just cold bend . I'm like geesh so used vice long sockets and big closed in wrenches . Lol

Amen ! , Absolutely agree. Get a toy to play with in the garage . That's what I did , and enjoy the my time I guess you could say. I look forward to it. Is the project taking forever ? Absolutely ,but I can work at my own pace , and not worry about it. Lol

There's just alot of factors IMHO when calculating compression ratios. Heads 64 cc or 70cc , cam etc.

There are some really good reads on the issue actually. I'm sure there's plenty right here on the forum .

Pistons and deck clearance weigh in on compression totals of course. The Pistons were 11:1 , went with I believe a .045 gasket. But to be honest 11:1 is not to far out of the scope for 93 octane. I believe GM used a .020 thickness

I used a thicker head gasket to pull it down a bit , and just don't go crazy on timing. All good .

I'm going to have to take it down to the guys at the transmission shop so the debate will be over ! They still can't believe a 79 Malibu came with a 4 SPD .
