Got the TV cable changed, crossmember reattached, linkage hooked up, 4th gear pressure switch attached, reinstalled and retimed distributor, changed carburetor base gasket for higher quality one, and have been idling it in gear while feeding it ATF like it is going out of style.

I still need to fiddle with the linkages to get the throttle to return to idle easier and a band clamp for the cut in the exhaust, but it is just about ready for a spin.

Said screw the neighbors and took the car for a spin, open exhaust and all. I have all 4 gears and they seem to work correctly. I haven't got the torque converter lockup connected yet, but I have all the parts ready. I will definitely be driving with the GPS speedometer for a while as the speedometer is way off.

The only weird thing is the shifter linkage is not using the full range of the column shifter. Park is in the correct spot, but Drive is showing between R and N on the column display and L1 is showing between D and 2. I always thought that when doing this conversion, everything lined up normally but you didn't have enough shifter throw to access L1. Perhaps the Cadillac shifter arm on the transmission is shorter than a regular one?

I am almost wondering if I want to hook up the lockup at all, since with the 2.41 rear ratio and the 0.67 overdrive ratio, I will end up doing about 1200 RPM at 60 MPH. This engine has torque for days, but that is a little bit much.

More welding and grinding. Don't really care to grind down the welds on the front most trunk body mounts. Can't get anything in there anyway.

I tried making an adapter for the Motive brake bleeder but I could not get the cap to seal, I tried 3 different methods and seals but the cap is too flimsy to keep it's shape and press down on a thicker seal. Nothing worked so I was kinda about ready to admit defeat and order one. When I was making sure I was looking at the right adapter the caps on the MC reservoir look different but they fit the same so I took a look at my Jeep and the cap is a lot sturdier and heavier with a flat top instead of the weird shape of the caps I have. So Today a trip to the yard to pick up a couple of caps and see how they work...meanwhile the beer tastes great....

don't know why I didn't think of this before I got changed, I can grab on of the spare caps I have and put it on the Jeep so no need to wait til Monday....time for another beer...:friday:
