If 4.5 hit the frame the 5 is gonna put even more wheel under the car. He's saying with a 4.5 he had to space the wheel almost w half inch away from the frame to get it to fit.
Awesome build! I've got a quick question. In the very first pic you posted on pgevon of this thread. What size wheel/ tire is on the rear and what offset? Thanks
Well.. Took a break from working on the motor this past week because I had a tire that kept going flat and I realized it was siting against the frame rail. I had just put 275/60s on the rear, and when I installed them, they seemed to clear. As far as I could tell it was bc the air shock on that...
Got my rockers on and all the valves set. Used an indicator on the cylinder #1 so I could see what it felt like when the valves went into a negative lash since I've never done this before. Got number one set right, then went by feel from there on out. No up and down play, when I felt resistance...
A thrush turbo. Or any brand turbo muffler. You can order em cheap on eBay, especially if you get a non name brand turbo. They are small and quiet with a slightly deeper tone than stock at idle. They will open up a lil at wide open, but they are still considerably quiet.
So basically I just pull the fitting out of the block, attach the new line into the block, run it up to the fire wall, mount the sensor pickup on the fire wall and attach the line into it?
One other thing. How does taking it off the block and putting it on the firewall reduce the risk of it...

I was gonna go to a high rise single plane, somethin like a victor jr, but the cam manufacturer says this cam likes a dual plane intake. So, since I already have the performer and the car probably needs a lil help on the low end due to the current stall speed, I just decided to reuse it. Took it...
Thanks. I'm sure a 2800 stall wouldn't hurt, but I'm not gonna go thru the trouble of changing it just to gain a few hundred rpm. When the day comes and somethin in the motor or trans goes pop and I've gotta pull em and do a rebuild, I'll go with like a 3500 stall, but as for now I'm just trying...
Thanks. This is my first build, and even tho I'm budget minded, I wanted it to be "right". I researched for several weeks diff head/ cam combos. I knew on a stock bottom end I didn't want it too radical. I just wanted a tough lil small block that matched up well with the stall and the rear end...
Well well well finally!!! After almost a month of family drama and home improvement projects with the wifey, I finally got started working on the car. I started the first evening by prepping all the gasket surfaces, getting all the debri cleaned outa the lifter valley and draining the oil. The...
The heads were only resurfaced with a .010 cut when I had em worked. But they are factory early 70s heads so I'm just assuming they have been cut before. Cylinder head guy said I should be in good shape as far as intake goes. I don't necessarily have to build the 396. I'd be interested in buying...
