school me on an engine swap

Just keep it hypothetical! If you have driven and liked a cutlass with overdrive at all, you will hate the TH350 3 speed, stick with the OD 200r4... 5-10 years ago, I would've agreed that the 700s may have been a more durable choice, but definitely not anymore! It seems the hardcore...

    Q-jet to edelbrock swap

As long as its either an older stock distributor(pre 1980s era) or any aftermarket(Accel/MSD/Mallory etc.). In my 307 I got a used factory HEI from a '75ish olds, I would recomend a new cap/rotor/coil/module etc., but having said that, I got it for nothing in a trade. Had I seen one of the Accel...

    Q-jet to edelbrock swap

Well you goof with those '80s computers :blam: , reguardless how fast it is(HP drag car or simple street cruiser), I want my car to run how my foot tells it at part throttle as well as full! If electronics were always the best way, everyone at every track (as well as everyone with a mechanicaly...

    Q-jet to edelbrock swap

I'll be the first to admit that when I was de-computerizing my 307, I really didnt know what I was doing at all, but I had the drive and I learned from alot of good people and wouldnt trade that understanding of the old way for anything... you gotta know how they did it back in the day, before...

    Q-jet to edelbrock swap

I think it mostly comes down to what system you want to learn and your individual preferance, plus it depends what the car is being built/used for... and with todays tech, I absolutly agree, BUT, I do not agree when talking '80s tech. Todays cars may make adjustments in a microsecond, the 80s...

    Q-jet to edelbrock swap

I'd toss the Comp Qjet, just my opinion. When I still ran my 307(now in safe storage) before my 455, I replaced my CC carb with a 600 cfm edelbrock and switched the computer controlled distributor too, they are not hard at all to tune, and I could not belive the power difference(woke that 307...

Worst modification you can make to a gbody

If you have ever used one of those "performance fans", you'll notice they work great(usualy), but they are NOISY AS HELL... I hate that stupid fan whine!!! :wtf: BUT, factory fans run silent, that is the main reason I used them(they were also free  , but whether you belive me or not...

Worst modification you can make to a gbody

I hope your not knockin the 5" monster tach! I agree with people having a self-tapping-screw-fest on their nice not cracked dash. Thats why I made this fancy shmancy bracket for my monster tach!  Kinda hard to see in this picture though... I also Greatly dislike removing...

school me on an engine swap

I'll be vote # 5,847 for keeping an olds in an olds! I used a 455 in mine, a big block olds is an easy swap, I had to cut my heater box for my tall-*ss valve covers but if you run stock height ones you'll be good. A small block is the same !00% as your 307, everything(brackets and...

    442 engine swap

Like I mentioned before, I belive after purchasing the edels, you WILL have to get them machined to bring your combustion chamber CCs down to reality to not lose a ton of compression/power by bolting them on out of the box. I wouldnt be supprised if you bolted stock edels on your 350 with 77cc...

    442 engine swap

Yea well, lots of people do alot of things because they are easier... being easy don't make it right :puke: Just look at a hooker  , no not a stripper, that takes dedication... a street walker takin the easy way  , thats just not right.

    442 engine swap

I think this is one of those topics that if you ask 5 difernt people you'll get 5 different opinions! :blam: But, the biggest factor is money, and if you are gonna spend it, spending it wisely is the goal right? You will definitly be happy with the edels(but do ask that and other speed shops...

    442 engine swap

I didnt have to open up the bolt holes or do anything to the intake to use the edels, and I got my set for around $1500(But also had to buy ford roller rockers & custom lenth pushrods)... in my case I got my 455 as a short block(no heads), by the time I would have bought a core set of decent big...
