I have a 86 Grand Prix with 14-inch wheels on it. I want to get Rallye II wheels. Will the 15x7s fit on there right?

If I go with the 14s (I found some), what's the biggest tire I can I go? I want to do a 215-60 if I stick with the 14-inch Rally IIs. It has 205-75s on right now, studded snow tires, not cool. Is 205-60 the biggest I can go (I want to have 60 profile tires)? Just wondering because 205s are on there now.

Yes 15x7s came stock on the performance gbodys. In fact the Buick GNX (the last 500 Grand Nationals) came with 16x7s I believe. There is another guy on here that ran/runs 245/60/14s all the way around on the 14" ralleys.

Stick with the 14's. People are always ditching these in favor of 17's and the like. BE DIFFERENT! Personally, I've always preferred the look of factory steel wheels. You can run a decent width tire and as a bonus, 14 &15 inch tires are less expensive.

I am running 225/70-14s on stock cutlass wheels right now. $58 each @ firestone. And, I think they look pretty good. You could probably run 235/65-14s on the stock rims if the aspect ratio of 70 is too hard to swallow.

Actually the 235/60/14 is only 25.1 tall. The stock 195/75/14 is 25.5 tall and the 245/60/14 is 25.6 tall. The stock 15" tire was 26.0 tall. The closer you stay to your stock height the closer your odometer & speedometer are to staying correct. Both Firestone Firehawk Indys & BFG Radial TAs have the 245/60/14 and as a raised white letter.

I had no idea you could go so fat on these tires. I remember the last car I had with 14-inch wheels was a 1983 Camaro. I couldn't go wider than 215s without the rubber brushing the suspension parts. For the record, are the 14-inch Rally IIs 14x6 or are they seven inches wide? I never bothered to measure the ones I looked at.

Should be 14x6.

Got the answer about two hours ago.

I know the early 14s were 14x6. I refurbed a set on a '72 Pontiac and they were 14x6. I checked out the place that claimed to have the goods today and I found both 14s and 15s. Only two 14s, both seven inches wide. They had a set of 15x7s. Both the 14s and 15s must have been made in the disc-brake era because the distance from the mounting area to the edge of the rim was approximately 4 inches (maybe 3.75 inches). Yesterday I found some older 15s but they were a lot deeper, closer to five inches (they were off a 74 Grand Am, massive car!). I might go with the 15s from today because the outlook on decent used tires is a lot better than searching down 60-series 14s.

Can anyone verify the "mounting depth" for the Rally IIs and when they changed them up? I know you can use the shallower newer ones intended for cars with discs on older drum cars, but not the opposite.
