15% ethanol instead of 10% saves you $$$$

All part of the agenda that Joey Putin and the Green New Deal terrorists are hell bent on instituting. Kind of like the "Cash For Clunkers" program but you get scrap price for the vehicle and the engine is already fried when you turn it in.
Not to get political but in my 59 years on this rock I have NEVER seen a President or his party that so hates the American people and this country. 🙁
Sure you did... you're old enough to remember the peanut farmer who screwed things up royally prior to Ronnie

Yes I do.
This clown is proving he can do it faster all while blaming someone else. What really sucks is the media propaganda that sets the narrative and lies over and over to cover for him.

You guys are right, I’d much rather use our fields for :

Respectfully, the narrative that Ethanol is bad and gas is good is propaganda being pounded into us by those that want to keep the oil flowing.

I find it hard to believe that that we, as a group, have been convinced to send our kids to war as a means to perpetuate this narrative - AND WE ACCEPT IT ????

Don't get all up in arms over this 15% stuff. It's not very fascinating in the big scheme of things. They're already selling it in off-peak season. A small percentage of gas stations sold 15% ethanol gas anyway, and all that will happen (so far) is that they get to sell 15% in the summer months where before they could not. Just watch for the ethanol placards to see if anything changes, though.

If they start popping up more and more for a grunch of places with the 15% stuff, then that's going to be different story.

Every other post so far is, "Not to get political but..." 😆

Increasing the ethanol is going to increase the octane you're getting at the pumps. It's still going to be blended to be 89, 91, 94 or whatever.

Higher ethanol content WILL decrease your MPG due to lower energy content. E85 can result in something like 15-25% lower fuel economy.

And yes, there was a study whose conclusions were that using ethanol in gasoline actually result in worse greenhouse gas emissions that straight gasoline. Also a few other conclusion regarding overall grain prices etc.

Want to lower or stabilize gas prices? Regulate it. Easy to make the argument that it's part of the core infrastructure. Ethanol mandates Will have little effect on overall inflation though as it has zero effect on the price of diesel which is how everything by truck or train gets delivered.

Up here in Canada, there's a few provinces at least that have decided to suspend the collection of the gas tax to give consumers so relief.

Ok it's dirty , it cuts down on your mpg , what are the good points besides the Farmers big win here

You ignore option three...

Repeal the law allowing domestic oil be exported, and open up some of those closed lands to drill. No need for foreign oil at all, not when the US was and could return to both a net exporter and one of the largest overall producers in the world.

As someone who previously had a coastal and marine background, look up a little thing called the gulf of Mexico dead zone which keeps growing.

You know what causes it? All that corn growing and the associated runoff into rhe Mississippi River basin of the fertilizers and pesticides.

Ethanol does NOTHING well, it's just corporate welfare to large farm interests. It uses more energy to make than it generates, it's corrosive and shortens engine life, lessens mpg, increases fuel costs per mpg, kills the environment, pollutes the air. So on so forth.

I agree CK, but get someone in our government on board with that. sh*t, I'd be advising to burn domestic coal in our cars if it kept us out of wars to fill the wealthiest of wealthy's pockets.

Lastly, I enjoy the discussion, repeat discussion. Opinions are lilke you know what, we all have one. But we should be able to have a discussion without referring to each other condescendingly.

And FWIW, vote him out and don't vote anyone in that is a relative or been there before. If we did this at the Senate and HOR level, we might have a chance. Otherwise, expect more of the same unfortunately. My Senator is Chuck Schumer - like wtf :itchy:

E__ anything is tough on old school gaskets, hoses, o-rings, etc. I can't speak to all fuel systems, but Holley and Edelbrock have components that are Ethanol compliant. It can be dealt with without big expense.

The political end of this is 'follow the money' as to why we haven't legislated to run E85 in every car in the country for the past 15-20 years. It's much cheaper and easier to support wars for oil rather than putting farmers and domestic businesses to work.

'Half of what you see and none of what you hear' - applies in spades to the populist E85 conversation IMO.

I agree. 4/14/2022 I was in Argentina on business and got a contract for multiple millions of ethanol during the Cheney Bush years. Cheney's secret meeting with the oil companies put such a high tax on imported ethanol I couldn't afford to bring it to the US. Yet Brazil was running 100 % ethanol with no problems. FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!

No thanks, I would rather oil production be owned by the citizens of my country, rather than let corporations get greedy 😎💪
