15x10 rim widest tires ????'s

The BIGGEST Wheel tire combo I've ever put on a Malibu was a customers 1967 LOL.
15x10" with 5.5" Back sapcing
295/55R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street SS Radials
I never tried them on a G-Body, but MAN did it look BADASS!!!

So did you already buy these 15" x 10" rims since you seen pretty adamant about using them.
 
Just to give you an idea as to where a 15" x 10" with 3.5" of backspace would sit here are some pictures of my Monte with a frame notch and 15" x 9.5" rims with 5.5" backspace, as you can see looking down over the wheel well no part of the tire sticks out with 295/55 M/T drag radials.

So add 2" for the difference in B.S. and another 1/2" for the wider rim and you can see where just the rim would be at 2-1/2"

I'll probably just go with 17 by 8 all the way around
Larger rims also allow you to go with a larger tire since they have less section width than a comparable 15" tire.
