I just want to know if it would be possible to put a 455 Buick into an '86 regal. Its on ebay, and it said that it could fit in most GM engine compartments up until '85. whaddaya guys think.
A few people here have done it. If you browse around on the site you might find a build thread about it. One of the users here has a similar Regal with a 455 and functional ram air. It can be done.
In addition to RegalBegal and this site try www.V8buick.com They have a section titled V-8 Buick powered Regals which is dedicated to people doing this swap. BTW the 455 Buick is a great platform to build an outstanding strong street engine with.
Hmnn I just found a Buick 455 4 bbl complete in car at a local salvage yard. If you want PM your cell and I will send you a pic as I took one on my phone of it when I was there. They want $350 for it. I am off work right now and my son is out from Lancaster PA and may be taking my Van back on Jan 3rd. Not sure if you have an interest or if this could all come together but there it is for what its worth.
Sorry for the really late reply but plans kind of fell through because you know at my age (18) every little idea that pops into my head just comes out and i want to try everything I think of. Thank You very much though.I can just try to pitch this idea to my dad, see what he says its my money, but its his truck that will pick it up if this works out. thanks again
The biggest problem with your 455 Buick swap is that you live in NJ which is very strict about emissions. First the engine is older than your car which is illegal, it's bigger than any engine it could have come from the factory with which is illegal. Does not have provisions for the factory emissions systems which is illegal. Now if you lived in a lax state like Fl or SC you could get away with an illegal swap. However as long as you live in NJ you can just forget about swapping in any kind of big block. Best bet for a swap is either turbo V6, SBC, SBO with all the emissions gear, or LS3 E-Rod with it's emissions kit or move.
From what I have always remembered I just went, didn't say anything about anything and they tested the gas cap and the tail pipe emissions. My cars always passed. They never even open the hood.
