hey there.. got a 78 cutlass and the retaining clip on my (original) shift knob broke off, so needless to say the knob wont stay on. I have been unable to find a replacement retaining clip (though I'd be willing to buy the whole knob if I could find one complete w/ clip).

the only shift knobs I can find are screw on kind and my shift stick has the push button on top and has no threads to screw a knob onto - it needs the retaining clip for the original shift knob.

so is there any place I can get the clip, or even the whole knob?

I am restoring my cutty and am planning on drippin some candy on it next friday so I'd like to get this shifter issue fixed asap. it seems ridiculous to replace the entire shifter just over 1 tiny retaining clip on the knob.

any help is GREATLY appreciated! thanks for taking the time to read..

edit: for those of you willing to help: oh and also I just bought a $50 B&M knob, it is brand new, I was told it would be compatible and it wasnt (its threaded) and its just too much hassle with these guys to return it - if you can find me the perfect solution for my problem and I go with your solution I will send you my shift knob free as a plug you just cover shipping..

Have you tried E Bay? It's the best place for small stuff like this when you can't find it in a local junkyard. There was someone on there selling NOS T handles a few months back, maybe they still are?

Yes,

I was looking through the "Cars 'n' Parts Finder" yesterday and came across a couple of T-handles (one was tan the other gray). They should still be there.

unfortunately ebay + cars n parts just dont have what i need.. i was trying dismantlers locally and no dice.. so frustrated, almost replaced entire shifter, and today i met a guy while walking thru a parking lot who plugged me up with the right knob for 15 bucks.. life is wild sometimes

thanks for feedback tho guys
