Not sure what you mean why only 8psi? The motor in the car is making almost 700hp and it is a stock block, crank, rod sbc with just an aftermarket piston. Is 700hp not enough lol?

Actually my apologies, I am not sure I ever mentioned the combo currently in the car in this thread just my old thread.
It's a stock block, crank, rod, 406sbc. Has arp rod bolts and some type of aftermarket forged piston. Has 200cc edelbrock vortec heads, a solid flat tappet cam, super Victor intake.

The cam card is for the new motor I'm building. That is a custom solid roller I designed.

The current motor has a comp cams xs282s solid flat tappet cam. Ran 117mph at 3450lbs NA.

Yea, have to be on e85, current motor is 10.8:1 compression. I ran the current motor NA on 93 pump gas. Had to switch to e85 when I added the blower.

No it won't. You would need to run up around 110-114 octane race gas to get to the octane of e85 and you still wouldn't have the latent heat of vaporization that e85 gives you. On boosted motor you usually make more power on e85 compared to a 114 octane race gas. On the first dyno pull I pulled 1* degree per psi of boost which is VERY conservative for E85 even at my CR with no intercooler. I know that because we added 2* degrees of timing and it picked up 30 numbers! If we added another 2* it woulda picked up more for sure. Most people on e85 don't even pull timing until after 5 psi of boost, which is I'd bet where my combo would make peak power as well... Pulling 1* per psi after 5psi....Right around 3* total pulled for 8psi of boost. Not to mention E85 is $1.80 a gallon and not $10 a gallon race gas. The only downfall to e85 is that it has less energy per unit than gas, so you need to run about 30% more volume of fuel than compared to regular gas. Basically I'm only making 700hp at the crank now, but I need the fuel system to support 1000hp on gas.

I understand. I was driving at a something in my previous comment, but never came out and said it - let the boost do the work.

I'm not a fan of a straight line timing curve based on boost, i.e .5 degree pulled per psi or whatever. I'd rather put the timing low, almost too low, until I'm above the peak TQ rpm for the only purpose of being easy on the parts. Another reason is that the motor is only living in that RPM range, below peak TQ, for a short period of time hopefully. My opinion of course, definitely NOT the gospel lol.

The E85 is pretty amazing stuff. It's sinful that it's so difficult to find IMO. I've only recently began using it and I am still learning, but the tuning window is very large as opposed to pump gas. At the moment I'm in a spot where I don't want to maximize the the potential of the E85 until I can get the car to work at the current power level.

A few updates.
I ended up having the machine shop assemble the short bock and degree the cam. I got the short back and painted it

Decided I didn't want to deal with stud rockers and a girdle. And because it's a street car I didn't want to use aluminum rockers, so I got a set of Crower shaft rockers

They set up fairly easily. Mocked the heads up onto the motor to measure for pushrods. Im going to use 3/8 pushrods so I had to do a little clearancing of the head.

Sold the old motor out of the car. Ordered a set of pushrods from Manton and a oil pan/pump from stefs

Never had a shroud in this car, so I bought a derect fit shroud for my radiator and mounted my fan. Turns out the fan I have is from a C4 corvette. Had my lil dude help me

Also degreased the engine bay. Years of oil leaks kept the cross member 1982 fresh.
