hey newbie to the site here, took out the old junk 307 olds and put in a 350 chevy a while back with a stock gm 350 aluminum intake and a q-jet ..runs great at around 300 hp. but need more power, building another chevy 350 for it around 400-420 h.p with holley square bore 750 dual line depending on which intake i run...finally my question ! ...with my stock hood will i be able to run a high rise intake like the old z28 style dual plane intake or the holley 300-36 dual plane intake(copy of z28 style) and my hood still shut ?? even a high rise single plane intake preferably . any of you guys run into this before ? wanting all the power i can get without changing my hood. square bore intake pattern.

I have a summit stage 3 (edelbrock performer rpm knockoff) with a Demon and a 3" air cleaner with a drop base, clears the stock hood by a little.

I have a 455 in my cutlass with a Performer intake and i had to cut a hole in the hood so the air cleaner would fit 😀 Ooppps

i have a ols 403 with the performer rpm, holley carb, drop base air cover and i jus had to ttake the insulationff the hood and it barley clears but itdoes clear

no fitment issues with my SBO - lol!

I had a Performer carb on mine with an air cleaner spacer on a standard Performer and it touched the hood. I use a stock air cleaner housing from a Camaro (dual snorkel), and had to use the flat Camaro lid. I switched to a Quadrajet and have plenty of clearance now. i took off the spacer and run a taller Monte Carlo lid on it with no problems. So, in short, it will all depend on your setup and your car.
