I got this car for free from my grandma it perfect condition. When my son got his license he drove it for a couple months and crashed it ruining the front end. When i received this car it had 30,000 miles on it because of a stroke my grandma had shortly after she purchased it. The stroke caused her to loose her license so it just sat in a garage for 16 years. I rebuilt the engine ( 307ci v8 5.7 ) because it was just old and needed some cleaning up. After my son and i drove it for a wile it got up to 47,392 miles. Interior is in perfect condition and i still have the original paperwork in the glove box from when it was purchased! Ill post a couple pictures showing my current progress:

Ideas for project:
* See if a Same year Monte Carlo header fits on it
* Take off vinyl top cover

( feel free to make suggestions )

The possibilities are endless as to what you can do to it. I would definately continue working on the body work. Hold off on the paint. Then it depends if you want to street rod it out or rebuild the stock setup. Focus on the motor, transmission, and rear end suspension / gears and you'll figure it out. Im working on an '86 Cutlass project myself. Im droppin a Chevy 350 4 bolt main, 700R4 Transmission, and replacing the stock gears with 3:73 for some street rod action. But what Ive found is that once youve done all that...You'll want to do more to assist the mission 😀 . But thats the goal right? Anyway, good luck on the project. Let me know how it goes.

you HAVE to use the dynomax conversion headers for sbc, i have a 82 supreme brougham and yes the motor is offset 1" dont listen to ppl that say otherwise, i just did the swap ~1 month ago and you have to "modify" any other long tube headers. not sure about shorties
ppl on the forum and in my local performance shop said i wouldnt need anything special and that was a bunch of bs, but its not i found out the hard way. The drivers side header has to sit in bay while dropping the motor in for easiest installation pass side will go up no prob.
If you use reg g body headers, the pass side will hit the upper control arm, and the drivers side has a lot of clearance.
just a small info-rant. i was not a happy camper. Other than that, the swap was simple.

--edit: i forgot to mention i believe the olds motors have diff exhaust bolt patterns than the chevy motors, so i dont believe the headers will work on your stock motor

A monte carlo header may physically bolt up but the lines on the cars are so far off it'll look horrible. You'll have a body line abruptly end, and another one abrubtly begin in the middle of nowhere, and may have some overlap issues with the fender/hear lip hanging off. :?

As for the vinal roof. You'll need all the trim for a non vinal roof car. Expect a little rust under the vinal roof even on a car this clean; if it doesn't be happy. Then you'll need to repaint the car, which probably isn't a problem seeing as how the front end needs paint anyways.

If you decide to hot rod it, any olds motor will bolt right in place of the 307. A 350 OLDS motor is a good solid foundation to build a mild steet motor from. But you'll also need to upgrade the trans.
If it's a 3 speed it's got a th200c which is junk... You'll need to upgrade to a th350. A reasonably cheap and easy step.
If it's a 4 speed, you have a th200 4r. They are fairly weak in stock form but can be built PLENTY strong, but at a cost. However if you want to retain the overdrive it's easier to build this one than move to a 700 4r.
---If you decide to hot rod it, please please go olds. It is just as cost effective as a chevy, especially because you don't have to first make a chevy fit in. It costs the same, and if you ask, you will find many people out there who sell and build oldses for a living and they know they're stuff and sell good parts.

Marcar, thats pretty cool sain to go OLDS. Mst guys think you need a chevy to have a fast or decent cruser.Plus with a 455 opps i meant 350. They are simular in size. nice sleeper
