Where can i find the most information about the 1986 2+2 Aero coupes.. I found one that had the nose but not the rear window and the guy says that they made 4 this way.

Anyone? I know there weren't a lot made less then 1200. Who knows the most about this car? Maybe i can be directed in the correct direction. Thanks

There's an 86 GP on criagslist right now that the guy claims is the Notchback version of the 2+2 and that there were only 4 made that way. I know for a fact that Pontiac made 1 prototype in 1985 (it was auctioned off at Barrett Jackson a couple years ago). That's about all I can tell you. Either its a genuine notchback or it was just replicated. Wouldn't be too hard to do because Lauren engineering does make the reproduction 2+2 nose.

Thats the one i'm talking about.. The VIN shows it as a 2+2

I don't know much about the 2+2's, but what about the VIN indicates this? I know they only had the base 150hp 305 in them...

I don't know which digit specifies it as a 2+2(since i can't find much info on these cars.) but when i put it in to autocheck it comes back as a 2+2.

Here's the criagslist ad for the car http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/2194513705.html
From everything that the owner tells me it sounds to be a real 2+2

1986 Grand Prix 2+2 Notch Back Special, 98,000 original miles. Runs and drives great. v8 305 Automatic. Has been well maintained. Fresh paint, tires are in good condition. This car is believed to be 1 or 4 cars made like this. Have documentation to prove its existence. Please call for more info. 541-679-4874 Thank you.

Nice looking car and it does look factory - what documentation does he have to prove existance?

The rear spoiler appears to be from a Firebird of the same vintage, much like the Grand Prix GT:

has some documents from the pontiac historical dept or whatever.

PHS documents? That is one huge advantage Pontiac guys have over the other divisions as it is positive proof that a vehicle is what it is - nearly impossible to to fake something with the exception of a VIN swap. Has he sent you a copy? If not, I'd request it... does it state anything about specifically being a notchback 2+2?

Basically, if there is PHS documentation to prove it's a 2+2, the only thing you have to worry about at that point is a VIN swap (check the SPID decal and door decals VIN's match up) or been backwards coverted from a typical 2+2...

I'd ask for pics of the PHS docs, the door jamb decal and the SPID decal on the underside of the trunk.
