Keep the 4L80. Make it fit, as long as you don't have to hack up the car. Then you can upgrade to a big motor later using the same transmission. Dare to be different.

A 4l80 will require heavy trans tunnel modding to even bolt in. Its a big trans

As someone who had a "race-built" 4L60E (really a 4L70E) leave a performance vehicle disabled recently (thanks to a crapped out 3/4 clutch pack) and is set to replace it with a 4L80E. I can tell you that TH400-based transmissions are the cats pajamas by comparison to the 700-R4/4L60 junk. I had a TH400 in my Turbo Buick and it was a direct bolt-in, a 4L80 will be no different in longer Elky. The parasitic losses are actually very minimal in a 4L80 thanks to the rollerized internals.

Or put in a built 200-4R.
