Setups I am thinking of are around the same price.

1. First is one set of Polk Audio SR6500's in the lower part of the door. I read a lot of good articles on these components and from what I hear, they are one of the best out there, even better than higher priced components. $589.99

2. My second choice is 2 sets of infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 6 1/2" components wired to get a 2 ohm load. Had a set before, never got to run an amp to them after truck got totaled, good sound. $229.99 each so about $460.00

3. Lastly I am thinking of doing 4 sets of MM651 - Polk Audio 6.5" / 6.75" 2 Way Coaxial Speakers. This way I can run 4 in each door and still get the 2.7 ohms, I can run a lower power amp and get more power out of it. Same price, about $460.00 for 4 sets, more cone area= LOUDER MUSIC!!!

I listen to almost all heavy metal, death metal, rock and the occasional rap, Bone Thugs, Eazy E, Dre......

In case it matters, for the subs I will be running 4 10 inch subs, still to be determined, ported through the rear package tray in a 1982 Buick Regal. So out of the three above, which is the best bet?

Are you just looking to be loud, or clear? If it is clarity, go with 2 speakers or a single component system. If you wish to be loud, go with multiple sets. I do caution against going too loud though unless you are into SPL competitions as excessively loud music, exhaust, etc. can cause Tinnitus, which is a real b*tch to deal with...ask me how I know.

Yeah I will probably just go with the set of focal components. I was going to go with 4 subs but I think it's just a waste of money. I will probably go with 1 or 2 decent ones, along with a pair of 6x9 speakers for rear fill facing back.

I was also going to go with a DVD install, was thinking all for show plus loudness but I figure too many jealous b*tches out there, Keeping it simple and clean but customized.

I have Tinnitus but it comes and goes. Mostly from when I worked in a factory and then construction. Loud music didn't help either, lol.

regal

Nice to see someone with a similar idea as me. Loud music is a MUST. i got 3 tv's in my 84 regal and just added 6.5's under the rear window, check out my photo album.

Now that I think of it, WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!!!!!!!

I drive a 1982 Regal and it has a 350 engine in it. Going to be a little hard to get quality sound from good components.......

I am just going to go to Wal-Mart and get some Sony's for $35 a pair. Put 4 in each door. Get some cheap subs and a few cheap amps and call it a day.

I will save the high end speaker idea if I ever get a good daily driver that isn't so loud.

I just came back from JML audio here in St. Louis. A guy by the name of Josh showed me and a friend around. He acually let us get into his daily driver which is a Ford Focus. He only had 1 set of components which were Hertz. These along with 1 12 inch sub sounded AMAZING!. They don't put any back speakers in and I couldnt believe it. They only had ~150W going to them.

these are the base model of Hertz, they only go up. Reason I say that because I had brought up Focals, and he said he would go with these 100 times and again. Just another thing to throw into your view but I will stand behind these and might get a set for my car if money comes around..

I am just frustrated and depressed and annoyed right now. I threw the cheap speaker thing out there cause I can't do shizzz right now.I can't walk, I am in pain and want my damn leg cut off.

Sorry to hear that the meds aren't helping much. I was hoping that you would get some relief from your pain when you got them. I know what it is like to want perfection in your car, but there are ways to have a decent sounding system for reasonable amounts of money. I think you are wasting your money on ultra-high end stuff for a car. Unless you compete, you won't be able to appreciate the minimal difference in quality while you are driving. Try looking at what is available on E-Bay. There is some decent stuff there for reasonable prices. I know that right now I am torn between wanting to add more sound deadening and quieter exhaust or make my car more powerful and lighter. I am mulling over 2.5 in true duals with 3 mufflers to see if it would let me have both some quiet and good flow. (1 muffler for each pipe, one crossflow muffler in the stock V6 location by the axle with 2 inlets and outlets). Alas, though I make very little money right now too, so I am compromising on my car to just get it done and have it drivable. Sometimes, that is a better option than wasting tons of time on perfection that never comes.

Pioneer 6x9 5-ways are excellent speakers for mid bass/voice and they have a decent price 130 for the pair. Other audio shops charge about 200 for the pair if you can talk them down. Then go with a pair of 3" Bullet Tweeters for your high end sounds and you will have a good setup for your car. Plus little to no fabricating is neccesary.
