Ive heard that you can use a stall converter out of a S-10 pickup and it will be about 1800rpm in stall? is that correct?
dogshit said:The best factory converters the "D5" stall around 2,200 to 2,400 or at least the ones from the turbo Buicks did and depending on whats in front of them. I think they came in at least 200-4Rs from GN/Ttype/442/MCSS. Many have them rebuilt strengthened and upgraded. Most commonly done as a 2,800 stall. I had a 2,800 and a 3,000 stall done and at the time both cost about $300 using my core. Even the 3,000 was great on the street as the only time you knew that you had a high stall converter was at WOT otherwise it would lock up at cruise or act as a normal converter would at part throttle.
It easy to tell a D5 its stamped all the way around the conveter stands out real well.85GPLef41 said:dogshit said:The best factory converters the "D5" stall around 2,200 to 2,400 or at least the ones from the turbo Buicks did and depending on whats in front of them.
