You haven’t lived until you’ve copper coated 200k mile head gaskets and put 25psi to them with reused head bolts haha.

Some classify the ~2004+ gen 3 with gen 4 internals as a gen 4......some call it gen 3.5.....regardless of what you call it, an 04-06ish lq4 is the holy grail of ls truck engines.
Sounds like once the body is gone, the engine would be a good candidate for a transplant.
Didn't you say in your other thread that you had a budget of $2500 to swap a motor in your car? You've spent $1000 on a donor vehicle, hopefully you can sell items off of it to recoup costs, but now you've torn the engine down and are rebuilding it. I think you've just eaten your entire budget before you get the engine in the car.I purchased a donor 2002 suburban with over 200k miles. I want to put that engine in my cutlass, it was cheap, I have been looking for a ls engine for months, could not find one at fair price. so, I got a complete engine and transmission, for less than $1000. for self-accomplishment I want to rebuild the engine nothing crazy.
That's good to know. I recently bought my Dad's 2005 2WD Tahoe for a work beater. Sounds like once the body is gone, the engine and trans would be a good candidate for a transplant.
Yup.....sell the 4l60e, buy a 4l80e.Fixed.
