I bought a "running" core for $100, was told it was out of a cutlass with a 307. Dual bolt pattern
Going to rebuild it, put it behind a 300hp Vortec 350
Chevrolet B body, 87, 88, 89, and 90 used the CTF TH 200-4R. With 5.0 VIN E engine (305 VIN H engine in 87), federal emissions. California cars used CUF.
It's a mushy-slushee box. All transmissions can be improved, however.
New part number was 8669011.
Reman units were p/n 8669903.
A later model is good, hopefully it doesn't have the 3000 rpm governor. Probably the big Transgo shift kit with the servo and minor hard part upgrades should be enough. Getting line pressure above 200 psi can be a PIA. Parts from CK were painful to get for me but there stuff is proven. Good luck.
I have the same designated type CTF transmission that will eventually go into my car. Apparently it was from an '89 Chevy Caprice. I know it's not the performance trans, but will be build up accordingly for firmer shifts and to live behind my 300hp smallblock.
