I left some space between the slots to retain some rigidity. And offset them front and rear. Additionally, this is an 1/8" extrusion and has a centre divider so it's still pretty structurally sound, IMO.
Much more robust than the aftermarket offerings that will likely result in your death:
I like my family.
I need to weld on the wings and see what it weighs compared to the stock unit. If I am disappointed I may have to find some more weight in it.
