Hello all. Sad to say the notion of putting in a SBB has been haulted for now. I was wondering how much do you all think it would cost to have a 3.8 from a 1985 Regal rebuilt? It's got a pretty nasty rod knock, so at the very least it would need a new bottom end and basic machine work, bearings etc. I am not capable of doing this, and I would rather have someone professional do it. I live in Iowa by the way. So, any opinions?

It would be a waste of time and money unless you desire total factory correctness. Options include getting a trusted shop to locate a reasonably priced junkyard motor (with a guarantee) and swap it in. Or park it and start reading about engine swaps and do it yourself. If you don't have the tools or the talent, scratch that.
