Yes, you need 301 mounts because the 301 was the only Pontiac V-8 offered in the later A or G bodies. And since all Pontiac V-8's mount the same, the 301 mounts will accept any Pontiac V-8. Now, what year motor mounts are they? Because an older model LeMans bracket, like a '76, will set the motor too high, as will F body brackets. So what you need are '78-'81 A/G body mounts because those are the years that 301's were offered. I believe the frame mounts are all the same, but it's the motor brackets that are critical. Your frame may or may not have the holes for the Pontiac mounts, but if not, just drill new holes. My '83 Bonnewagon had the exact holes needed even though the 301 was defunct by then. And yet my '81 Malibu didn't, so I set the bare short block/empty trans in there, leveled it, and tack welded the frame mounts in, then removed the motor/trans and drilled new holes.
