I would use the one on the motor, no regulator required. Do take some pics.

Same answer as your other topic.

Re: Flywheel question

You need a Pontiac flywheel. Be aware of the register size, there's 2 sizes. This is the large size. (your size) Notice there is NO index hole, just the 6 bolt holes which go on only 1 way.Use 301 mounts and perches. And, while not trying to pee on your parade, but I would have done a Buick 350 swap into a 3.8 Regal. Much less to adapt.

I know. But there isnt too much to adapt anyways so it not a big deal. plus it isn't easy finding a buick 350.

im lost with the motor mounts. i ordered mounts and they dont fit. i got 301 motor mounts (the ones that bolt to the frame) and also the ones that bolt to the engine. The ones that bolt to the engine i got pontiac lemans because thats what my engine was out of. I am assuming i need motor mounts for the 301, right?

Yes, you need 301 mounts because the 301 was the only Pontiac V-8 offered in the later A or G bodies. And since all Pontiac V-8's mount the same, the 301 mounts will accept any Pontiac V-8. Now, what year motor mounts are they? Because an older model LeMans bracket, like a '76, will set the motor too high, as will F body brackets. So what you need are '78-'81 A/G body mounts because those are the years that 301's were offered. I believe the frame mounts are all the same, but it's the motor brackets that are critical. Your frame may or may not have the holes for the Pontiac mounts, but if not, just drill new holes. My '83 Bonnewagon had the exact holes needed even though the 301 was defunct by then. And yet my '81 Malibu didn't, so I set the bare short block/empty trans in there, leveled it, and tack welded the frame mounts in, then removed the motor/trans and drilled new holes.

I have 301 frame mounts. The mounts that bolt to the engine I ordered were for a '72 lemans. Which means they are not 301 mounts. But I can't seem to find mounts for the 301 engine. Everywhere sells the ones that bolt to the frame but not the engine.

Nope. Those are for F-body. These are what you need.

If the car you are looking at had/has the 301, I would like the motor mounts on the frame and engine. I suspect the frame brackets are more important, engine mounts can probably still be purchased. I would also like the cross member.
Thanks,

I have an extra set of really nice powder coated engine mount brackets to fit our cars. I'd like $45+ shipping if you're interested. Shipping options are up to you. Yes, you can get the frame mounts pretty cheap too. The last time I checked Rock Auto they were $4 e

Alright so as long as I get them from a g body Grand Prix with the 301 then I'm fine? I found a few places selling them for a late 70's Grand Prix with the 5.0, which would be the ones I need.
