*******, ga
im trying to decide what to do to my wagon to get better fuel economy. my eventual plan is a 6 speed/LS1 combo, but the funds arent exactly flowing in my direction for that just yet. so im thinking about just going with a simple fuel injection setup for now. this is my daily driver so i want something relatively inexpensive and not time consuming. what is the best route to take with this?

a properly tuned carb and engine will get just as good as milage a tbi. sure it has its pros and cons but imo to much time and money for not alot of benefit.

Rebuild factory carb, give the car a good tune up, overfill your tires a bit, and keep your foot out of it. Switching to a TBI would not be a wise choice if saving money is your main/only reason for wanting to switch.

Agreed. Start with a thorough tune up. The bone stock 305 in my Cutlass will get 20mpg pretty consistently with the Qjet. If you have to have FI you might keep an eye out for a Holley ProJection system on ebay of CL. They frequently pop up for $200-$400 (used). It's similar to GM TBI but somewhat tunable. I've installed a couple and they work pretty well. Like others have said, not really much improvement over a well tuned carb though.

ok thanks for the info yall
