You should be able to get a basic kit from autozone for anywhere from $2-$300. May I just suggest getting an Olds 350 and just rebuilding that? Even stock it will be an improvement and it is a direct swap. If you keep it stock to mild you can still use the computer.

I'll agree with Dan on upgrading to a 350 Olds. In any case, I've had good luck with "white box" rebuild kits from Northern Auto Parts. Be sure to upgrade to FelPro gaskets, however.

A few years back I got one for around 1500-2 grand. Just be sure to have quality machine work done with new pistons, it seems to me the 307 doesn't like cheap/basic rebuild kits.

307

i want to rebuild the olds 307 because some guys i talk to who done it said i can get the same hp and torque as the other olds smalblocks it just more money. and i found one kit for around $900 thats new everything but the crank and rods but i should be able to use the old ones, it's not a stock kit but i don't want to get to radical with the engine i'm not going to race.

It can be done, it's just not practical

plus i want to be diffrent, you don't see alot of high hp olds 307s , because everybody don't want the headache or spend the money and have a hard time finding parts for the 307. some people just want to take the easy way which is fine for them but i need the chanllenge. 95% of all these cutlass out there have a 350,403 or a 455 and i don't want to be like everyone else. what about the olds 330 or 425 i haven't seen one cutlass that ran these engine and they are good engiens. i just think those people are afraid to take something that was ok for the time the engine was made and the make it better using todays technology. if there is anyone who agrees with me good if not thats fine to. but if everybody wanted the same type of car olds would of made one engine for the car thats it

If you want to be different, thats fine. Just be prepared to spend some money. Have you seen some of the high horse power 307s? I will see if I can find the links.

i have not and think those cutlass's with high hp 307's are better because it's not really the same as everybody else and i'm willing to spend the money and the time i'm a auto techican, with specialitys in advanced engine rebuilding and advanced auto tranmissions. if you want to send my the links that fine, it's just i willing to spend the money and the time for a challenge to rebuild a 307, don't get me wrong the 403 or the 455 are great engines in fact all olds engines are great engines. just why not the 307, 330 or enven a 425 i think they would be great in a cutlass
