ok maybe it's not the same buick 3.8 but it still doesn't matter if i had a buick gn i would still pull the engine and put in a v8. and do no this ro a fact about the 307 hp i could get or is this somethig you have heard. because i know people that built high hp 307's. turbo , nitrous and supercharging is not real horse power your still relying on something else for the power the engine that you built can't produce.

You comments do nothing but make you look like a dumb *ss....

Ill pull 2 plug wires off my GN and ill bet I could smoke any 307 ever built.....in reverse, uphill with a brick under the accelerator so I couldnt go 1/2 throttle

I love how people try to tell him not to do this. He obviously knows it what it will take to do what he wants! Its great that he is trying to do something not many people will try. Anyone can build a 350 Chevy to have good power, but it takes someone with dedication and knowledge to try to build a powerful 307.

what makes you think i would tell what i would put in the 307, and the best 307 whould be above 300 hp and alot of torque i first stated what is wrong with building a high hp 307,330 or a 425 instead of a 350, 403 or a 455, but were getting into a pissing match here, and don't tell my about engine priciples i rebuild engine all day not like one of those weekend rebuilders like some people. to the person about the gn moter i don't have a porblem with the gn engine it's a great engine, but did you build that gn engine?

on another about why do you think i would get my a**kicked if i went up aganist a stock 5.0 mustang aganist a performance 307?

dan2286 thanks , aleast there is one person that knows what i'm trying to do, like you said not alot of people will try, maybe they don't have the knowledge , the money or both who knows, all i'm trying to say it can be done so why not? maybe it's just a matter of opions here.

I was reading this and I realized your from Whapeton. That means your about 3 miles give or take away from me. Wanna buy my 455 Im takin out of my cutlass?

there is no problem geting 300 hp out of the olds 307! just pick your parts right. get good machine work (especialy the heads) and your good to go !!
gn's LOL it's funny how people dont get that a N/A motor is not the same as a blown motor it's like comparing apple's and orange's not the same thing at all.

I have a friend who was real big into Olds racing dating back to the 70's. In the 80's he ran an 81 Cutlass which was sponsored by Olds from 82-90 or so. Then he went to a Firechicken and then an Achevia. He always ran a 307 due to his class he ran. He would be pushing 600 plus HP outta that little thing. I dont kno wwhat all he did to them but I know he would bore them out to equal a 350 .60 over and sleeve the cylinders. He won and set several IHRA records thru the yrs. So yes if you prep it right the 307 will run good! Just my .02's

I have heard of them also, but they are not streetable at all. I think they ran like two or three quarts of oil, huge bearing clearances, and other crazy things. They were not meant to last long at all.
