I currently have a 307 right now , and i just started getting a knock and it sounds like a rod hitting , whats my best solution?
If its cheaper should i just do an engine swap? maybe a olds 350 rocket? If so is it an easy swap?

depends on the knock, could be an oil pressure problem,or you have worn lifters that can create a friction noise. In the long run yes,307s are worht rebuilding.Olds 350 is a direct swap, you can switch over everything from the 307 (if using the ecm),and depending on how mild the 350 is,you wont have to switch to a stronger transmission and rear.A good stock to mild 350 means you wont have to change over anything big like the rad, rear and transmission.BTW i have an olds 350 for sale for $150 if you're insterested,it'll need a rebuild, but its a good starting point.

I think you meant "aren't" worth rebuilding. 😉

As said, if there truely is something wrong with the 307 then yes, it would be cheaper to just swap to another Olds engine. A 350 or 403 Olds would be a direct bolt-in. A 400/425/455 would also go in with just a bit more work. 😉

thank you for correcting me,yes they are not worth rebuilding, mine only made 200 horsepower, check out that big thread about them and it'll make you think twice about picking a 307 over a 350 or 403.

It could even just be a carbon knock....start the car and slowly pour some water down the carb and see if that cleans the carbon out. If it is a rod bearing you can find out by removing one plug wire at a time with the engine running and when you get the right piston the knock will be quieter or it could be gone
