307 power

the other guys know the olds engine better than i do but the basics should do alot. intake, headers, non-restrictive exhaust, non-feedback carb and distributor should restore quite a bit of power.
i know the chevy 305 with those basic upgrades made alot more power!

yeah i thought to do the same i usualy do on my sbc but from what i read they are too diffrent beast's and plus i have the crapy 307 with the small port heads and roller cam with stainless manifolds and from what i read the edelbrock intake will probly lose power with them heads and not sure if headers would be worth it with them heads

i cant find any cam listing for lunati and the only roller cams i saw for the 307 are the mondello racing ones for like 400$ not worth the $$$$ for me
so i guess there is no cheap way to make a little more power out of this then ?

You can buy a new VIN 9 grind (I think that one is .440/.440) new for 200 bucks from PAW.

All roller cams are going to cost a little more. The VIN 9 cam is pretty healthy in a 307. I wish I would have had one back when I did a 307.

Headers will help no matter what. Go to the junkyard and get yourself some of those 5A heads that were on every 307 from 1980-1984. They have the big ports and you can run a performer manifold with them. Those heads will be nearly free from the wrecking yard. Get the matching factory intake at the junkyard, too, if you don't want to spend the money for the intake. Then spend the money for the VIN 9 camshaft.

you have a roller cam, u need a roller cam because the cams are different...a roller cam is hardened..not mention the lobes are straight instead of cut at an angle...

this was actually a new grind...the flat tappet Vin 9 cam was actually the old non- hi po 455 cam .435 .435? that cam would work nice with a 8.5-1 350 performer intake and 3.42 gear.
