So here I was with a so called 350 waiting to drop into my cutlass. Pull the #'s on Mortech and this is it.

3970010....302.....69....4...Z-28 Camaro 3970010....327.....69....2...Trucks and industrial 3970010....350...69-80...2 or 4

Hmm? I always thought the block was a 350 because the heads are good wrench 993 heads but here it says it may be a 307, 327, 350. Heads are definitely not factory then. Ok so here is the suffix code MF. And to add to the confusion it's a 4 Bolt forged crank!

What does the harmonic balancer look like? If I remember correctly a 327 has a narrow balancer with kind of a notch out of it, and a 350 balancer is wider and round. A 327 will run harder than a late 70 or earlier 80s 350.

Sweet I will check the crank #'s. But I've never heard of a 4 Bolt 327. If it turns out this engine is a 327 I'm buying some real good heads and cam for it.

the 3970010 block is a very good block it is high in tin and nickle so they like to be machined. a 327 screamer would be kinda nice in our cars

Kinda waiting to here what crank is in it - 327 was never a 4 bolt engine not to say you can't build one. The MF indicates a 67 Camaro (would like to know the rest of the #'s on the front pad) If it's a 67 block it's a small journal block. Read about some early 350 small journal which would be rare.

Sounds like a 350 block being 4 bolt main. But that MF code?
Sure its not MP?? That would make it a 302 🙂 which is 4" bore 4 bolt main.
Did you measure the stroke on the crank?
Also It could have been machined to make it a 4 bolt. They used to do that back when.

The large journal 327 was a 4 bolt, they used the same block as a 350 and the stroke is the difference. The 4 bolts only came in trucks

Not trying to start a pissing contest nor will I engage in one, but there was never a (factory) 327 4 bolt. If you do any investigating you won't find any info to support one. That's why I'm interested in this thread not to say the holy grail isn't out there. I have read that some Canadian trucks might be but nothing to support this.
