81 isn't a G-body and still didn't have the 307 .... only V-8s were the 260 and the diesel.

how is an 81 NOT a Gbody ?
It's just a technicality. 80-82 were labelled "A body" but are structurally equivalent to a G body. They are still known as G bodies, generally speaking.

Structurally equivalent ??? They are exactly the same. LOL
78-80 were the b*st*rd A/g Body years. 81 + to my knowledge were all built on the gbody platform. Moot point anyways as the frames and their components are all interchangeable.

I just want to point out that no monte or cutlass ever came with a 350, only 231's, 305's and 307's...even 442's, H/O's and SS's came with 305's n 307's, just high output ones

Don't forget about the Mexican Monte's. :)

When I got my Malibu, The prior owner was honest. He told me he had no idea what was in it. All he knew was it was a SBC. The prior owner before him put it in.

I drove her home, and she ran really good. I was thinking 350. I was happy. A few days later, I decided to pull the alternator and read the number. Turns out it was a SUF code...305 HO out of a Monte SS. I'm still happy...lol

Bought mine from a buddy. He got the motor from his dad (who inherited it from a guy building it up for a quarter mile car). He was told it was a 350. I ran the numbers and sure enough it is a 327 outta '68? chevelle
He wasn't to impressed when he found that out.

Worst mistake ever.....a buddy of mine had a f*ked over truck that he THOUGHT had a 327 in it according to the PO. He always bragged about how well it ran & what not. He eventually decided to sell it for $400 and I bought it. Who could pass up a good running 327 for that price?

I pulled the engine to put in the '87 SS I had at the time and wouldn't you know.....right there on the side of the block was stamped 267! Boy was I pissed! That was the last time I took anyone's word on what was installed in a car.
